March 23rd Allens Hill Free Library is honored to host Michael McCarthy, Author of his historical fiction, From Cork to the New World; A Journey of Survival. It was about people fleeing Ireland in a famine and coming to Canada. He has written a second book; Flight of the Wretched; A Journey to the New World. In this book, again people come from Ireland to connect with family in Canada, but land in New York City, and ultimately decide to settle along the Erie Canal. It is full of interesting Irish and New York State history that you would not ordinarily think about. Mike will be presenting about this book on Saturday, March 23rd, at the Allens Hill Library, at 1:30pm. Copies will be available for signing.
